How to shop for your body type
It can be difficult to figure out the best clothing to fit your body shape. Each body type is different, and everyone looks different in clothes. Categorizing yourself as a geometric shape or within a list of fruits might seem odd, but it’s one step closer to knowing how to dress.
We’re breaking down the three most-common body shapes to help you figure out which one best relates to your body. If you have ever been confused about your body while shopping, you won’t have to worry anymore!
The Pear-Shaped Body
This is perhaps the most common body shape for women. If you have a pear-shaped body, your hips are wider than your shoulders. You might hate this about your body, but don’t worry. There are plenty of options to best dress your body shape to accentuate your curves.
Fit-and-flare dresses should be your best friend. The dresses show off your top half and add an extra flare on the bottom to accentuate your curves. The style will draw attention to your curves but in the most beautiful way.
The Hourglass Body
We have heard many times that an “hourglass body shape” is most ideal. Women strive for this body shape, in which your shoulders and hips are roughly the same size and you have a smaller, more defined waist.
You want to draw attention to your small waist. Wear belted dresses, wrap dresses, and body-con dresses that define your narrow waist, curvy hips, and full chest.
The Inverted Triangle Body
Another popular body shape, the inverted triangle means your shoulders and chest are wider than your hips. So, how are you supposed to dress to help slim down your shoulders?
Wear fitted jackets, blouses, thicker straps and sleeves, and loose skirts. These will attract attention to your legs and make your shoulders not look as broad.
