heart attack

When it comes to heart attack symptoms, you envision someone experiencing immense chest pains and shooting cramps in the left arm. However, this isn’t always the case, even more so when it comes to women. You might be surprised to hear that ladies occasionally exhibit the following symptoms while having a heart attack:

1. Pain In The Jaw, Neck, And/Or Back

Chest pain is a visible indicator. However, in addition to this, or instead of, you may be the victim of neck, jaw, and/or back pain. There isn’t a pattern to these complaints. Suffers have described the sensation as both gradual and sudden.

You may also notice the pain fade in and out, before becoming increasingly intense. You may even be asleep, and wake up as a result of the agitation.

2. Anxiety

Anxiety is an increasing issue in modern day culture. Almost every American has experienced this distressing feeling at one time or another. However, if you notice unusual periods of anxiety, more severely ones that make you feel as though you’re approaching ‘impending doom,’ then you need to take a moment to relax. Our bodies are sometimes trying to tell us to chill out. Shockingly, 35% of women who participated in a National Institute of Health study said they felt anxious during their heart attack.

Other more general symptoms of anxiety include restlessness, continually feeling “on edge,” difficulty concentrating, and irritability. If you think you’re suffering from this, take note and seek help from your GP.

3. Indigestion

Did you know, a heart attack can trigger swelling in the abdominal regions?

Commonly, this presents itself in the following ways: nausea, sickness, indigestion, and a loss of appetite. This same study also shows that 39% of women claimed to feel these symptoms during their heart attack.
