Consider the dandelion: Is it just another pesky weed or your travel mug’s new favorite companion? Nutrition experts and recovering coffee addicts around the world have weighed in on dandelion coffee. Now it’s your turn.

What’s This In My Coffee Cup?

A drink made from dandelion roots may raise eyebrows. However, dandelion coffee is an ancient herbal beverage that modern coffee snobs are learning to love.

When a dandelion root is dried, ground, and mixed with herbs, it develops a mellow bitterness with a bright, sweet edge. The taste and smell are similar to coffee, though it is less acidic and bitter.

Why Everyone Should Drink Dandelions For Breakfast

Dandelion coffee is a perfect, caffeine-free option for replacing jittery drinks. But, it’s more than just a coffee substitute. The health benefits of dandelion coffee put it in a league of its own.

The leafy greens of the dandelion flower have long been regular items at farmer’s markets. They’re a natural liver cleanser, jam-packed with fiber, calcium, and other critical nutrients. When roasted, the root contains antioxidants and immune-boosting probiotics.
