A Lower Risk Of A Stroke
The bigger a man’s calves, the less likely they are to suffer a stroke. Interestingly, a study of over 6,000 people highlighted (regardless of other factors), that the bigger the subject’s calves, the fewer fatty deposits they had in their arteries.
Scientists believe that larger calves give the body another place to store fat, which is far better than lipids floating around the bloodstream.
While we’re on the subject, it’s worth noting the signs of a stroke so that you can act accordingly: is one side of the face drooping down? Are you struggling to raise your arms? Can you speak without slurring your speech? If the answer’s yes to any of these questions, call an ambulance immediately.
Higher Resting Heart Rate
Trends show, the smaller your calves, the higher your resting heart rate, which sadly means you’re a greater heart attack risk. Better go beef up those calf muscles and get healthy!

Although larger calves are associated with lower health risks, it appears they correlate with liver issues. Like we’ve said, calves act as an agent for fatty deposits. Therefore, the bulkier the calves, the more likely the person is to store an excessive amount of liver lipids (that weren’t triggered by substance or alcohol abuse).
In light of that, health professionals believe that larger calves could be a sign that someone’s suffering from a liver condition. Therefore, the patient needs to be screened so they can receive the appropriate treatment.
